Although it’s been a very springy winter, I’ve still been in cold-weather fashion mode. But not for long! It’s that time of the year when I start thinking about how it would be nice to move my all black wardrobe to the back of the closet. Well, maybe not all of it. I wouldn’t be opposed to bringing in a few of the feminine pastels that I am eyeing for spring.
Here’s a little taste of what IamScarlett has in store for spring. I’m in love with this pale green Jade, it looks amazing with a white shirt and light blue denim.

Love is in the air! And it makes me so excited to know that many people out there will be receiving an IamScarlett Valentine today. I just wanted to thank everyone that purchased a set of my 1st Edition of IamScarlett paper products. I had such a blast making them and am already working on ideas for the next group.
As for me, I received a Valentine from my two favorite sweethearts today that put a big smile on my face. They always make me feel so loved and I couldn’t ask for a better pair.
I stumbled upon this new bag today. I had a feeling I had my hands on a little gem so I made the decision not to let it get away from me. As I left the store I googled Whiting and Davis on my phone and found that metal mesh handbags have been their specialty since 1876, and now I want more!!

hmm…so first off, Im sitting on the floor in my kitchen because for some reason the power has gone out in most of my apartment and I need an outlet to plug my computer in. I have been here for a while now because I have something to say but I am having trouble spitting it out. I’m going to relax and just start from the begining.
I took a trip to New York this past week to reconnect with my college roommates. I was very much looking forward to the good time we were inevitably going to have because we always do. I was also very excited to get out on the town and explore all Manhattan had to offer. Almost immediatly after the flight was booked I started stressing about what I would wear. This isn’t just any city, this is the mecca of well dressed fashionistas! In todays world, it’s hard to stay grounded and keep yourself from ingesting all the petty things that society has a tendency to blow up into a life crisis. Like how will I limit my suitcase to 4 pairs of shoes? Instead of, what will be most comfortable to walk in? And, what is the craziest most exciting fashion statement I can make? Instead of, will I need a jacket or raincoat? I’m sure you can guess how it ended up. Ok well maybe I should have packed the raincoat instead of my amazing, but extremely heavy, studded pumps. I never said I was perfect. I can also say I don’t always use the most practical thought process. I would, however, like to think I have good intentions and that all these thoughts come from a good place. Sometimes I just need a little reminder.
One of the things I was most excited to see in New York was the exhibited works of the late Alexander Mcqueen showcased at The Metropolotain Museum of Art . I had never been to The Met and was in need of a little inspiration. I had also read it was a spectacular show that couldn’t be missed and I wasn’t about to let that happen.
I have been told that my first fashion statement was made at a very young age. My look revolved around a yellow tutu that I thought went great over any outfit. I will go ahead and stand by that decision. This was a time when things were easy. I had no opinion of what was cool or uncool. I didnt look at what everyone else was wearing (or I would have realized no one else was wearing tutu’s over overalls). I don’t even know why I liked it, I just felt like myself when I was wearing it I guess. Or maybe it made me feel like someone else and that was fun too. Fashion is interesting that way because it can be practical and comfortable or it can be the most effective way to express opinion and imagination. When art is displayed directly on the human body it automaticly lives out movement and emotion and takes on its own life. That is what makes it so amazing. Not who wore it best in Us Weekly. I left the exhibit feeling empowered, inspired, and relieved that I remembered that feeling of freedom and imagination that has sculpted my passion for wearable art.
“For me, what I do is an artistic expression which is channeled through me. Fashion is just the medium.” – Alexander McQueen
“You’ve got to know the rules to break them. That’s what I’m here for, to demolish the rules but to keep the tradition.” – Alexander McQueen
“There is no way back for me now. I am going to take you on journeys you’ve never dreamed were possible.” -Alexander McQueen
